Who Parked The Car winner of "Made In New York Jazz Competition"
2024-07-15 20:00 The 2024 prize has been awarded by Mike Stern, Lenny White and Randy Brecker

Bio

Acceleration, sharp turns, sudden braking, U-turns and cruise control: the musicians of Who Parked The Car still haven't managed to park their car, or their music.

The 8-piece band blends soul, jazz, funk and electronica, brought together by young musicians from across France and Latin America — trained jazz players, but above all groove lovers. The live experience is integral to WPTC's identity: so much so that their title track, "Who Parked The Car?” was written as a live call-and-response game with the audience.

True to their collective spirit, the band has no single leader — all eight members contribute compositions, arrangements and lyrics, even swapping roles on stage. Their sound is a clever mix of vocals, sax, synths, guitars and percussion.

2025 brought a new voice, with singer Alice Chahbazian joining for the upcoming album "Wrong Answers Only" (2026), succeeding Laura Wamba, who fronted "Broken Glass" (2023), "Drafts" (2024) and the debut album "Mad Weather Good Friends" (2022).

WPTC won the 2024 "Made in New York Jazz Competition" judged by Mike Stern, Lenny White and Randy Brecker.
