The ten compositions explore universal themes: love and its absences, nostalgia for what never was, the bonds and fractures created by globalization, social injustices, memory, and hope. Hiraeth—a Welsh word without an exact translation—evokes that feeling of longing for a place or time one can never return to.
The musical aesthetic, nourished by the influence of Rick Margitza and inspired by a Pat Metheny–style compositional approach, finds its own voice here: honest melodies, writing that is clear yet open, and a will to move rather than to dazzle.
